49ers Elect 6 Captains; Purdy and Samuel Named First-Timers
Beyond QB Trey Lance, several candidates may have had case
Purdy, Samuel, Armstead, Bosa, Warner, Kittle earn votes
SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers players elected six team captains for the 2023 season with quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Deebo Samuel among the selections.
Purdy and Samuel are first-time captains with the 49ers while repeat honors went to Arik Armstead, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner and George Kittle.
The 49ers elected to have six captains instead of seven leaving out candidates like star defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw and several others.
