Nations League France 1 3 Italy Amazing Azzurri Comeback

Nations League | France 1-3 Italy

Azzurri overcome early setback to down World Champions

Italy produced a stunning second-half fightback to snatch a 3-1 win over old rivals France in their Nations League semi-final.

The reigning world champions came into the game high on confidence after cruising through the group stage with victories over Denmark, Croatia, and Austria. However, they were comprehensively outplayed by an inspired Italian team at the San Siro.

The Azzurri took the lead through Nicolo Barella after a clever assist from Federico Chiesa. However, the French hit back quickly through AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud. The sides went into the break on level terms, but it was Italy who started the second half the stronger.

Roberto Mancini's side took the lead for the second time in the match when Lorenzo Pellegrini fired a low shot into the bottom corner. The goal seemed to give the Italians a huge boost of confidence, and they began to dominate possession. In the end, they sealed the victory when Federico Dimarco added a late third.

Italy will now face either Belgium or Spain in the final on Sunday. They will be confident of victory after their impressive display against France.
